Access Points
More than 100 miles of navigable river, including 38 miles of designated Virginia Scenic River, are part of the Blueway. The Staunton (or Roanoke) and Dan Rivers meet to flow into Kerr Lake, which is Virginia’s largest lake.

Where to Camp
Waterfront camping is allowed only in designated campgrounds. Lucky for you, we have those in abundance along the blueway. An array of State Park, Corps of Engineers and private campgrounds await overnight paddlers.
Kerr Lake
Buffalo Park on Kerr Lake (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers)
Location: Hwy 58, a few miles west of Clarksville, Va
Facilities: 21 sites for tents or RVs; amenities like hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station. A swimming beach and picnic area make the campground ideal for families.
Open: Seasonal (May-September)
Water-front campsites available: Yes

Longwood Park on Kerr Lake (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers)
Location: U.S. 15, a few miles south of Clarksville, Va
Facilities: 66 sites for tents or RVs; amenities like hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station. A swimming beach and picnic area make the campground ideal for families.
Open: Seasonal (April-October)

North Bend Park on Kerr Lake (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers)
Location: VA Rt 4, adjacent to the John H. Kerr Dam in Boydton, Va
Facilities: 244 sites for tents or RVs; amenities like hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station. A swimming beach and picnic area make the campground ideal for families.

Occoneechee State Park on Kerr Lake (Virginia State Parks)
Location: Hwy 58, across the bridge from the town of Clarksville, Va
Facilities: 88 sites for tents or RVs; 13 cabins; 11 equestrian campsites; amenities like hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station. Miles of lakeside trails, an archery range, a marina with boat rentals and close access to Clarksville make this a perfect getaway.

Rudd’s Creek Park on Kerr Lake (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers)
Location: Hwy 58, between Clarksville and Boydton, Va

Staunton River State Park (Virginia State Parks)
Location: At the confluence of the Staunton and Dan Rivers in Halifax County, Va
Facilities: 47 sites for tents or RVs; 8 cabins; 13 equestrian campsites; amenities like hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station. Over 17 miles of multi-use trails, an olympic sized pool with huge slide, several boat launches and access to outstanding fishing and paddling.
